ProgHog231 A concept album inspired by Voyager-1, according to the band. The (mostly) instrumental compositions are epic and the production is excellent, thanks to mastering help from Mell Dettmer. Favorite track: Cries of Dying Stars.

Timothy Hunter I love Ahab; BTS reminds me very much of Ahab, but with space as the theme rather than the ocean. Magnificent riffs, songwriting that takes its time but makes you settle in comfortably rather than check your watch, expertly crafted atmosphere... a beautiful, lonely, engrossing record. Favorite track: Outward The Sky.

The Siberian five piece will release ‘Envoy’ via Temple of Torturous Records in February 2015. The six track album has its roots in sludge and funeral doom, but with progressive aspects very much reaching upwards to an ethereal, otherworldly plane. The album received finishing touches courtesy of mastering engineer, Mell Dettmer, who counts Sunn o))), Fyrnask and Earth among her previous clients.

The band explained the concept of the album as follows: ”The album’s narrative is told from the perspective of a personified version of Voyager-1 – humankind’s first step in fulfilling our destiny – transcending the Solar System and paving our way to the stars.”

Mikolaj is a real multi-talent in bass as well as guitar as well as vocals and "Darkside" Maciej's drumming is a well-calibrated 100th-of-seconds-clockwork. This was truly a revelation. I was getting started with funeral doom, working on something with my headphones on... Then came Déluge... my jaw actually dropped, I stopped what I was doing and, wide-eyed, just listened to the track, baffled and amazed. After the album was over (I never do this), I went to lay down with my headphones to enjoy it over again. I rarely heard (and felt) this much power and emotion in an album. Until I find something better, this is my landmark for peak funeral doom. fluo
